Defining a Reference User for Security

Objective

The Reference User function in User Groups Maintenance identifies a user which is used as a template in security when creating a new user.

All access rights (projects, employees and companies), access restrictions and access to fields will be copied from the reference user to the new user belonging to the same user group. The reference user's screen configuration will be used until it is changed by the newly created user.

A general reference user can also be defined (rather than by group) by identifying the user in General Settings. This general reference user will be used if no reference user is specified in the group. To configure screens, the reference user's screens will be used as long as they have not been modified by the user.
