Changes to the New Brunswick Government Tables Effective July 1, 2021

As announced by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) in the T4127 Payroll Deductions Formulas document, available on the CRA's website, modifications to provincial income taxes for the province of New Brunswick have been made. No federal changes have been announced.

This maestro*EXPRESS has been made to guide you through the update of the payroll calculation settings.

 

We would like to remind users that it is their responsibility to validate the appropriate rates and stay updated on any subsequent change. It is therefore recommended to verify the data entered in maestro*. Information included in this document is provided for information purposes only.

 

New Tax Rates in New Brunswick

The provincial governent of New Brunswick announced, on May 11, 2021, a reduction of the rate applied to the first tax bracket, from 9.68% to 9.4%, effective January 1, 2021.

Since employees have been taxed at a different rate for the first six months of the year, a prorated tax rate will apply for the remaining six months, starting with the first July payroll.

The prorated tax rate for the first tax bracket, effective July 1, 2021, will be 9.12%.

  1. Under the Provincial Tax tab, select New Brunswick in the Mode field, of the Detail section;
  2. Replace the value in the Credit Rate field for 0.0912;
  3. Replace the values in the Income Tax Table section to reflect those displayed in the following image and table:
