Accelerate your grid searches with dynamic filters

Did you know that there is a very effective method for finding a specific item in a search grid?

Dynamic filters are designed to save you time when you search for values in a search grid. When you use them, you can usually find the item you are searching for very quickly, even in files containing millions of transactions.

For example, when entering catalogue orders, you might know the manufacturer's product code, but not the catalogue number in maestro*. The traditional method involves searching for the manufacturer's code in the tens of thousands of catalogue items, which may take some time.

By using dynamic filters, the item can be found much more quickly.

  1. In the search grid for catalogue items, right-click and choose the Configuration option in the menu displayed:

  1. In the configuration screen displayed, locate the field to which you want add a dynamic filter. If it has a checkbox in the Filter column, it means it is available for this purpose. Simply check the Filter box to activate it and click OK.

  1. A new entry field for the filter you have selected is displayed. In our example, this is the Manufacturer's Part Number.

  1. Start typing the first characters of the manufacturer's part number for which you are looking. You will see with each character you enter, the search is refined so that only the parts for which the manufacturer's part number begins with the characters entered:

Filters are case sensitive. Remember to respect upper case and lower case letters when entering your information according to your data.

  1. When the part you are looking for is displayed, simply select it in the usual way.

Note that this function can be used in different contexts. For example, you can use to find transactions from a specific supplier in the transactions transferred from the purchase. It can also be used to find a specific transaction number in the project-to-project transfers.
