Financial Statement Variables

OBJECTIVE

The Financial Statement Variables function is used to create variables that will subsequently be used in Financial Statement Printout Formats.

Create a variable

  1. Enter the required information:

 

The Display Predefined Variables icon contains all of the basic variables in the system.

The Display Variables Created by Users icon contains all of the basic quantity variables in the system.

  1. Configuration of Variables section:

Field

Description

Identifier

Variable identification code.

Description

Description that identifies the code.

  1. Title to Print section:

Field

Description

Alignment

Default alignment for the variable.

The choices are: Align left, Align right and Center.

English

French

Description of the column header for the French statement.

Description of the column header for the English statement.

NOTE: These fields are displayed based on the choices checked in the configuration options of Financial Statement Configuration.

  1. Arithmetical Formula section:

Field

Description

Data Type

Used to identify the type of data that will be printed for the variable. ClosedAvailable values:

Year

Used to determine whether the variable should be calculated based on the current year or other.

The choices are: Current year, Previous year, Previous -1, Previous -2 and Previous -3.

NOTE: For example, it will be possible to compare a given quarter for the current year and the previous year.

Range

Directly influences the choice in the Period field. ClosedAvailable values:

Period

Used to determine the range of periods covered by the variable.

NOTE: This field is conditional on the use of the Cumulative Balance or Fixed Cumulative Balance range.

NOTE: You can configure a quarterly variable by selecting a Cumulative Balance range with a period From Period 1 To Period 3, for example.

NOTE: You can retrieve the opening balances by selecting the Opening Balance period.

Operator

Plus or minus.

NOTE: Only available if the Period field is set to Current Period.

Number

Number of periods.

NOTE: Only available if the Period field is set to Current Period and the plus or minus operator is used.

  1. Click Save.
