Define Estimates Types

OBJECTIVE

The Define Estimate Types option is used to create various types of estimates so that you can define various configurations for the form, profit calculation, cost of parts or automatic numbering.

Create an Estimate Type

1. Enter the required information in the Main Fields tab:

The Configuration icon is used to define entry options for the Code field.

Fields followed by the “ * ” character are mandatory fields.

Field	Description
Code*	Estimate type code.
Description	Description that identifies the estimate type.
Estimate Form Filename	Form used to print estimates of this type. If no form is specified, the system uses the standard system file. All types of estimates with a form other than the default will be available for printing by clicking the Print icon in the Estimating screen.
Profit Calculation Mode	Profit calculation method used for the entire estimate. Available values. Profit Remember that the rate of profit indicated must be the rate of profit included in the selling price: Ex: an item at $100 sold with a 10% profit will have a selling price of $111.11. The formula used is: ($100 /90%)*100 = $111.11 **90% from the calculation (100% - 10% profit) Markup Applies the markup percentage to the cost. Ex: a $100 part can be marked up 10% for a selling price of $110. The formula used is ($100 * 10%) + $100 = $110.
Cost Price Source	Calculation method for catalogue item prices included in the estimate. Available values. Average Cost + Calculated average cost, including the amount on order in the "in stock" value: Average Cost+ = (Value in stock + Quantity on order) / (Quantity in stock - Total quantity received, but not invoiced + Quantity on order) Average Cost Average cost calculated by maestro*. Calculation of average cost (without activation of accrued costs) Average cost = (Value in stock / (Quantity in stock - Total quantity received, but not invoiced) Calculation of average cost (with accrued cost activated) Average cost = (Value in stock + Total amount received, but not invoiced) / (Quantity in stock) Last Paid Price Last paid price, regardless of the supplier selected. Fixed Unit Price Price entered in the Fixed Cost field from Catalogue Management. Fixed Unit Price + Discount Price entered the Fixed Cost field in Catalogue Management, taking into account discounts defined in the Define Supplier Pricing or Supplier Discounts Table options. List Price Price entered in the List Price field from Catalogue Management. Quotation Price Price entered in the Quotation Price field from Catalogue Management. Selling Price Price entered in the Selling Price field from Catalogue Management. Supplier Price 1 to 4 Price entered in one of the Supplier Price fields from 1 to 4 from Catalogue Management.
Selling Price Source	Used to define the calculation method for the selling price for catalogue items in advanced estimates. Available values. Cost price + Profit Default option. Calculates the selling price based on the cost and applies the profit determined in the estimate. Calculation: Amount Submitted = Cost Amount + Administration Fees + Profit. The profit is calculated based on the administration fees. Catalogue Selling Price Calculates the selling price based on the Selling Price determined in the source of the cost and applies the customer discount, if applicable, which is taken from Define Customer Pricing. In this mode, maestro* no longer considers the percentage of Profit in the Closing tab in the calculation.
Construction Type	Defines the default method for handling taxes in the estimate. Available values. Turn key Calculates the taxes at the end of the estimate on the selling amount. Time and Material Calculates the taxes on the cost for each detail line based on the formulas defined in Define Tax Code Usage.
‘Valid to’ Date Calculation	Used to define a condition for calculating the estimate validation date. The term is from Credit Terms Management.

1. Numbering section :

Field	Description
Auto Numbering	Tells the system to number estimates automatically when saved, based on the defined counter, if the box is checked.
Counter	Used to enter the next number used on saving. NOTE: In multidimensional mode, the Next button allows you to configure an estimate counter by company prefix.
Estimate Num. Mask	Lets you use a pre-established numbering format for the estimate number. NOTE: You can determine the number in advance using a mask to identify a department or industry sector. For example, CONS-###############. If the counter is 123, the result would be CONS-000000000000123.
Project Num. Mask	Used to automatically generate a project number based on the defined mask. NOTE: The Generate Project Numbers field must be enabled in Configuration.

2. Click Save.
