Summary

MS SQL Server

Features

Requirements

Operating System (OS)

Windows Server 2016 or higher. NTFS file system mandatory; FAT32 is not supported. Do not use software RAID systems.

NOTE: The "Data Execution Prevention" (DEP) service must be configured to handle only essential Windows programs (not all programs). The server must not have any significant load other than maestro* (e.g. domain or DNS/DHCP server, Exchange, etc.).

MS SQL Server Version

Microsoft SQL Server 2016, 2017, 2019, or 2022.

NOTE: SQL Server 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2022 require .NET Framework 4.8 for database engine support.

Processor

Any recent workstation or server-grade processor is suitable for maestro*.

  • A CPU with a minimum clock speed of 2.0 GHz is recommended for best performance; the higher the clock speed, the better the performance.
  • A minimum of 2 cores is recommended for a maestro* data server; there will be little or no gain beyond 4 cores, especially in virtualization.

Microsoft SQL Server handles multi-core processors very well: the cadence doesn't have to be very high, but the higher the value, the better.

RAM

32 GB minimum, more depending on the context of use. Ideally, the server has enough memory to process all maestro* data in memory, ensuring maximum performance.

Storage

At least two physical drives are required:

  • One physical disk for the operating system (OS): 120 GB or more for the OS disk.
  • One physical disk for data (DATA): 250 GB or more for the DATA disk.

Note that SQL Server requires a minimum of two 500 GB drives.

Network

Between servers, at least 10 GB/s.

Terminal Servers

Features

Requirements

Operating System (OS)

At the minimum, a Microsoft-supported version of Windows.

Processor

As this is the computer on which maestro* runs, CPU speed and single-core performance are crucial for good performance.

NOTE: Take care with virtualization! It's essential to maintain good CPU performance at all times.

RAM

8 GB minimum, plus 1 GB per user.

Storage

Ideally fast drives (SSD), capacity according to customer profile.

Networking

Between servers, at least 10 GB/s.

Features

Requirements

Requirements

Internet access is required.

A wired Ethernet network is required: 1 GB/s minimum. For the servers, 10 GB/s recommended.

Wireless Connection

Not supported.

Configuration with a Windows domain

TCP/IP IPv4 must be active. TCP/IP IPv6 is not supported.

Ports

TCP/UDP 3389 port for RDP access, TCP 5900 port (realVNC).

If data is accessed from the network via the maestro* application, the following ports must be available for MS SQL: TCP port 1433 or 3351, TCP port 1583, TCP port 137-139.
